This is where their dancing really starts to grow.
Between 7 and 10, children are ready to take the skills they have already discovered and begin developing real technique, musicality, coordination and performance confidence.
At Artists In Motion, that development still happens in a friendly and encouraging environment. Some children join us with previous dance experience, while others walk into a dance studio for the first time at seven, eight, nine or ten. Both are welcome.
Children can explore different dance styles, work towards new skills, take part in performances and examinations where appropriate, and begin discovering the types of dance they genuinely enjoy.
A place to feel part of something.
Juniors are becoming more independent, but joining a new group can still feel like a big step. Our teachers help new students settle in, get to know the people around them and progress at a pace that feels achievable.

Here are the current AIM classes that fall within or overlap the 7 to 10 year Junior age group. Exact class placement can depend on age, experience and current grade, so our team can help you choose the most suitable starting point.
Building skills they can take beyond the studio.
Dance teaches much more than steps. At this age children are learning how to practise, listen, work with others, respond to feedback and recognise their own progress.
Some Juniors love examinations and performing. Others simply want an activity they enjoy each week. AIM provides room for both, with structured teaching and clear progression without losing the enjoyment of dance.
Age-appropriate teaching that develops skills gradually and safely.
Opportunities to try, practise, perform and feel proud of progress.
A welcoming environment where children can feel part of the AIM community.
Explore several styles rather than feeling restricted to one type of class.
New to AIM? Starting is easier than you might think.
Your child does not need to arrive knowing the routines, wearing a complete uniform or already knowing somebody in the class. A trial gives them an opportunity to meet their teacher, experience the class and see how they feel.
Ask About a Junior Class ›Come and experience AIM.

Questions parents often ask
A few useful things to know before your child joins a Junior dance class at Artists In Motion.
Does my child need previous dance experience?
No. Children can join AIM as complete beginners as well as with previous dance experience. Tell our team your child's age, interests and any previous classes when you enquire, and we can help identify an appropriate starting point.
What should my child wear for their first class?
Comfortable clothing that allows your child to move freely is a good starting point. Once your child has settled into their class, the AIM team can advise you about the appropriate uniform and footwear.
Which dance style should my child choose?
There is no single right answer. Some children immediately know they love Ballet, Tap or Street, while others enjoy trying different styles. Tell us what your child enjoys and we can suggest suitable options.
When are Junior dance classes held?
Junior and age-overlapping classes currently run from Monday through Saturday at AIM Studios. Options include Ballet, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Lyrical, Street, Tap, Modern, Acro, PBT and Theatre School. The Junior timetable above shows the current days and times.
My child is nervous about joining. Can you help?
Yes. Let the AIM team know when you enquire if your child is nervous, shy or worried about not knowing anybody. Knowing this in advance helps the teaching team make their first experience as welcoming as possible.
Where do the Junior classes take place?
Junior classes take place at AIM Studios, Intex House, Cooting Road, Aylesham, Kent, CT3 3EP, near Canterbury.
Can Juniors take part in performances or exams?
Depending on the class and level, AIM students can have opportunities to work towards examinations, performances and school productions. Our teaching team can explain the opportunities relevant to your child's chosen classes.
