Dance classes for ages 11–14. Find your style. Build your confidence.
Dance classes for 11 to 14 year olds at AIM Studios in Aylesham, near Canterbury. Explore new styles, develop your technique, perform, make friends and find the classes that feel right for you.
More choice.
More challenge.
More of you.
At 11 to 14, dance starts to become much more personal. You might already know the styles you love, or you might be looking for something completely new.
At Artists In Motion, our Inters can explore ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, street, modern, acro, musical theatre and more , with classes suited to different ages, experience and ability levels.
Some dancers want to work towards exams and improve their technique. Others simply want an energetic class, new friendships and somewhere they feel comfortable being themselves. Both belong at AIM.

Try something.
Go for it.
Dance should feel like somewhere you want to be.
Technique matters, but so does enjoying the class, finding your people and feeling confident enough to have a go.
Find your style

It's your class too.
We know that by 11 to 14, you have your own opinion about what you want to try, what music you enjoy and the kind of class you want to be part of.
You need to feel confident too.
Choosing the right activity at this age is about more than finding an empty timetable slot. We'll help you understand which classes are suitable, what they cost and where your child fits.
Dance classes for ages 11–14.
At this stage, class placement increasingly depends on experience as well as age. Some classes overlap neighbouring age groups, so we'll recommend the most appropriate option rather than putting every dancer into the same class.

There's somewhere to progress.
Dancers don't all want the same thing. AIM provides different pathways so students can enjoy dance recreationally or take their training further as their confidence and interests grow.
Try
Explore styles and discover the classes you genuinely enjoy.
Develop
Build technique, strength, confidence and performance skills.
Perform
Take part in shows, examinations and other AIM opportunities where appropriate.
Progress
Move towards more advanced training and the 15–18 Seniors pathway when ready.
One weekly class.
One monthly price.
AIM runs for 39 teaching weeks each academic year. The annual class cost is divided into 12 equal monthly Direct Debit payments, making the amount predictable throughout the year.
Per month for one weekly 45-minute class during AIM teaching weeks.
Per month for one weekly 60-minute class during AIM teaching weeks.
Per month for one weekly 75-minute class during AIM teaching weeks.
Each class you choose to trial costs £20 for the complete two-week trial. For example, trialling one class costs £20 in total, while trialling two different classes costs £40 in total. No uniform purchase is needed during the trial.
Wondering what actually happens?
Starting somewhere new can feel like a big deal at this age. We want dancers to have time to get to know the teacher, the group and the class before deciding whether AIM feels right.
Tell us about the dancer
Age, interests and any previous experience help us recommend the right class.
Come comfortably dressed
There's no need to buy an AIM uniform before the trial.
Meet the class
Get to know the teacher, other dancers and how the session works.
Give it two weeks
There is time to settle in before you decide whether to continue.
Before your first class.
Can someone start dance at 11, 12, 13 or 14 with no experience?
Yes. Previous dance training is not essential for every AIM class. Tell us your child's age and the styles they are interested in and we can recommend suitable beginner-friendly options.
How do I know which Inters class is right for my child?
Placement depends on age, previous experience and, for graded classes, current technical level. You do not need to work this out yourself. The AIM team can recommend the most suitable class before the trial.
What should my child wear for their trial?
Comfortable clothing they can move easily in is fine for the trial. There is no need to purchase AIM uniform until your child has settled and you have decided to continue.
How does the two-week trial work?
Each class selected for trial costs £20 for the complete two-week trial. This means one class costs £20 in total for the two weeks, while two different classes would cost £40 in total.
Does my child have to take dance exams?
No. AIM provides structured progression and examination opportunities where appropriate, but young people can also dance because they enjoy the class, friendships, fitness and performance.
Can my child take more than one style?
Yes. Many dancers combine styles such as ballet, jazz, street, contemporary, tap, modern, acro or musical theatre. The admin team can explain suitable combinations and confirm the total monthly cost.
Where are the Inters classes held?
Classes take place at AIM Studios, Intex House, Cooting Road, Aylesham, Kent, CT3 3EP, within easy reach of Canterbury and surrounding East Kent villages and towns.
What happens after the trial if my child wants to stay?
The AIM Admin Team will confirm the class or classes, explain your monthly Direct Debit amount and arrange enrolment. The current one-off enrolment fee is £39 per student.
Let's find the right class.
Tell us their age, the styles they're interested in and whether they've danced before. We'll help you narrow down the options and recommend a sensible place to start.
