From their first nervous steps to friendships, performances, exams and bigger ambitions, Artists In Motion gives children a place to build confidence, discover what they love and feel proud of who they are becoming.
Based at our purpose-built AIM Studios in Aylesham, near Canterbury, we welcome children, teenagers and families from across East Kent into a friendly, supportive dance and performing arts community.

Starting something new can feel completely different for every child. Some cannot wait to join in. Others need time, reassurance and a friendly face. We think both are perfectly normal.
The confident one
Already dancing around the house, full of energy and ready to get involved from the moment they arrive.
The quieter one
Happy to watch first, take things at their own pace and get comfortable before joining in fully.
The complete beginner
Never danced before? That is absolutely fine. Everyone has a first class and nobody is expected to arrive knowing the steps.
The aspiring performer
Loves being on stage, wants new challenges and is excited by opportunities to train, perform and progress.
Nobody should feel like
“the new child” for long.
Joining an established class can feel daunting, particularly for a shy or nervous child. Our teachers take time to help new students settle into the room, understand the class and begin getting to know the other children.
One of the ways we can support new students is by pairing them with a friendly class buddy during their first few weeks, giving them somebody familiar to partner with while their confidence grows.
Confidence does not have to happen on day one. Settling in is part of the journey too.

There is no single definition of success at AIM. For one child it might be walking into class independently for the first time. For another it might be an exam, performing on stage or discovering ambitions they never knew they had.

At Artists In Motion, dance is about much more than technique. We want students to build confidence, creativity, friendships and a lifelong love of performing. Whether they join us simply because they love dancing or because they have bigger ambitions for the future, they should always feel seen, supported and proud of their progress.
Sometimes the biggest progress happens away from the mirror.
Learning steps and technique matters, but parents often notice changes that reach much further than the dance studio.
Confidence
The nervous child who once stood at the door can gradually become the child who walks into class independently, joins in and feels proud of what they can do.
Friendship
Regular classes give children familiar faces, shared experiences and the chance to build friendships around something they genuinely enjoy.
