My daughter takes part in two classes at AIM, Musical Theatre and Street Dance and she loves them both equally. She can't wait to show us what she has learned after each session and it's lovely to see her confidence grow each week. The lessons are fun and engaging and the teachers are friendly and approachable as well as being highly skilled and professional. My daughter is extremely happy here and a happy child makes for a happy mum. I highly recommend AIM.

Lisa and her lovely team are the most amazing dance school, giving children that live in the countryside and surrounding towns a chance to shine at all different dance styles. My daughter has been going to ballet class since she was two and love her dance family that she has come to know in the studio and on zoom sessions. She has learnt to share, take turns, rhythm beats/count and have fun with her friends. We can’t wait for her to grow in her dance knowledge with Artist in motion school of dance.

Dance classes in Aylesham for every age and level

We teach a full timetable at our Aylesham studios. The exact classes change each term, but typically include:

Preschool and early years dance classes in Aylesham

For our youngest dancers, roughly ages three to five, we run playful beginner classes that introduce the basics of music, movement and coordination. These sessions use stories, props and games, so children feel safe and excited to come into the studio.

Typical early years options include:

  • First ballet classes, introducing simple positions, skips and gallops
  • Fun introductory classes that mix basic ballet, modern and creative movement
  • Parent friendly sessions that help shy children settle in gently

These early years classes are ideal for families in the new housing developments in Aylesham who want their children to make friends and gain confidence in a structured environment.

Children’s dance classes in Aylesham, primary and lower secondary

  • As children move into primary school and early secondary school, we offer a broad mix of technical and performance based classes, such as:
  • Ballet classes in Aylesham
From beginner grades upwards, building strong technique, posture, turnout and musicality
  • Tap dance classes in Aylesham
Rhythm, timing and footwork, great for children who love music and making noise in a controlled way
  • Modern and jazz dance classes
Expressive, upbeat styles that support musical theatre work and stage performance
  • Street and commercial dance classes in Aylesham
High energy routines inspired by music videos and concerts, ideal for confidence and performance skills
  • Acro dance classes
Working on strength, flexibility and safe tricks, combining gymnastics style elements with dance
  • Musical theatre and performing arts
Combining dance, acting and sometimes singing, perfect for children who want to be on stage

Many families use these classes as their child’s main physical activity each week, especially if they are not keen on traditional team sports.

Teen and advanced dance training in Aylesham

For teens who are serious about their training, or who are considering GCSE or vocational pathways, we provide:

  • Higher level ballet, modern and tap classes with a focus on technique and exams
  • Strength, conditioning and stretch based classes to support safe progression
  • Opportunities to take part in shows, festivals and exam sessions where appropriate
  • Guidance for those considering dance at college or as a career

Because we are based in Aylesham, older students can fit regular training around school and part time work, without a long late night journey.

Adult dance and fitness in Aylesham

Where timetable space allows, we also run adult friendly classes, which may include:

  • Adult ballet for those returning to dance or starting from scratch
  • Adult tap and commercial based classes for fitness, fun and stress relief
  • Stretch and conditioning sessions to improve flexibility and posture

If you live in Aylesham and you think you might be too old to start dancing, you are not. Adult classes are relaxed, sociable and tailored to mixed ability.

Exams, performance and progression

Artists In Motion prepares students for recognised dance examinations and assessments in suitable styles and levels. For many Aylesham children this is their first experience of working towards a formal goal and receiving a certificate for their effort.

Alongside exams, our Aylesham students have opportunities to:

Perform in school productions and theatre shows

Join workshops with guest teachers and industry professionals

Take part in holiday programmes and intensives during breaks

Progress is always matched to the child. Some dancers thrive on exams and stage work, others simply want a weekly class for fun and confidence. Both routes are valid and respected.
